Windows Vista SP1 problem...*URGENT* Need Help!

I went and bought a new router for my girlfriend's computer and when the installation started up on the computer, it told me that Vista Service Pack 1 was required to run the installation. My girlfriend said that it was already running on SP1, but I downloaded it anyway. I ensured that it was recognizing and would install the software. Problem is, I think the version that the auto update was corrupted. It will go to a MS DOS based screen and start running on something like this:

XXXXX/83713 and once it went from 1-1088, it would look like this: !! 0xc0190036 !! 1088/83713 (dfrgifc.exe) and sit there not doing anything. What the hell? I can't even reach the desktop anymore and the repair just puts it back into the update. It had sat on the 1088/83713 part for a good 45 minutes.

Any suggestions?
