Joomla JCE Insert Image Error Solved

Benchmark Reviews uses Joomla 1.1.15 with JCE Editor Mambot 1.1.8. This Mambot includes the Image Manager 1.1.2 Plugin.

While configuring the JCE Editor Mambot, I replaced the charset/encoding parameter from the default value of iso-8859-1 to Latin1. This was done to troubleshoot a problem we were having with non-breaking space ( ) appearing in the table of contents and causing character set issues. What it did instead, was cause the Image Manager plugin to stall when an image was attempted to be inserted.

In Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) the image could be selected from the list, but it would never preview or fully load the image. This problem didn't exhibit itself in FireFox. By returning the charset/encoding parameter back to the default value of iso-8859-1 everything was fixed.

Now if only I could figure out how to make JCE work with FireFox 3.x.
