XP Install Help Please!!!

Alright...I just bought a computer that had Windows Vista on it. I played with it for a few days and realized that Vista has so many problems. I kept getting "Non responsive program alerts" and it would close the process and automatically reboot the computer. I ran a virus scan, spyware, malware, just about every other scan and came up empty and figured that it would be the OS itself that was doing this so I figured that I would like to go back to Windows XP. I have an install disc for XP but I keep getting an error during the time that it is copying the files.

The files that it says that can not be copied are:

These are all of the partitions that the program can not copy over onto the system from the disc. Some of the information that I was reading on this issue says that I need to hand over administrative rights to the system. But to do that I need to get into the system using my old Windows version. The issue with that is that I don't have another Windows version on disc. Is there another way that I can get these partitions onto another disc and place them into the drive in place of the Windows disc in order to put the partitions on the system?

Someone suggested that I install GParted onto a disc and boot from disc with Windows and use that same method with the program. If that's the case, do I take the folder from the .ZIP file and burn the folders and files inside of it to a disc and run it when that error comes up?

I needed more information from a more reliable source as I only have one disc that I can burn right now. Lol If you could help me with this issue I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks guys!

What is this "XP Install disk"?
Can you boot from it?

I wouldn't try to install the XP on anything but a clean drive with a new partition. Is Vista still loaded on the HDD?

I would format that drive before installing Windows. If you're not able to boot from the XP install disc, then it's probably not legitimate.

What Olin said...did it...worked no prob this time. I deleted the partition, in this case C: and reformatted it then proceeded with the install.

There are few tips concerning Windows XP or any of windows family OS installation:-

1. Always keep your personal and important data on other partitions
2. Delete your default operating system partition, recreate, format it & then proceed with fresh installation.
3. Windows Vista has drivers issues & its response time is quite slow
4. You should update your windows on constant basis (One must install critical updates)
5. Protect your system with reliable Anti virus software.
6 Avoid using pirated copies
