WWII Online case

I am honored to be the first to post in the Modders Showroom. This is the case I have been working on this year. Certainly many power tools and elbow grease used so far.
I started with 1/4 inch grade 6061 aluminum squares. I wanted a supportive frame under the acrylic that will cover the case.

Then I drilled out holes for tapping for the screws to hold the acrylic. Holes to lighten the weight, and then countersunk the edges so they would not be sharp.
Then I had 18 pieces which are still very strong.
Here they are welded together as a frame and starting the acrylic pieces being cut.

The outside is dark blue acrylic. Here is a pic of a scrap piece on the frame. I am leaving the paper on most of it until all the cuts are made.

Once Windows is running I will install my 22 inch widescreen Viewsonic inside the case. Here is an image of how it will be completed.

I will also have the keyboard stored inside the case.
I still have about half a jar of elbow grease to use up before this one is done and running Windows and WWII Online.
Although it is a work in progress I thought I would share this on Benchmark Reviews.

So it will not only be a custom built case, but it will also sport an LCD and keyboard as part of it? This is going to be a deep project! If you want to write up an article afterwards, I would be happy to get you published.

Yes, it will have all parts internally wired. I could only post a few pics at a time. Here are some more of the progress.

The keyboard is on a drawer slide. I will add another slide so the keyboard travels out of the case more.

Here is a pic of the drives and clock, all mounted on the "side" of the case.

Wow, what an incredible idea. Looking forward to seeing it when it's all finished up.

I also like the fact that it's a WWII Online case! For a while there I thought I was the only person that played that. Too bad I gave it up recently....; :-(
