Windows 7 Does Not Support HP LaserJet 1012 Printer

According to HP as of March 2010, Microsoft Windows 7 does not support the HP LaserJet 1012 printer. This printer worked perfectly in Windows XP and Vista, and Windows 7 detects it with the correct name, but the device appears unknown and HP does not list any support for the device.

Perhaps this is yet another way for HP to force an upgrade?

Perhaps I'm missing something... when I visit HP for the printer driver, I'm directed to this message:
Quote:
Category 6 - Selected product is not supported in Windows 7
Your LaserJet model is not supported in Windows 7.
For more information regarding upgrade programs and new product information, please visit the HP Trade-In/Trade Up website or directly from HP.
This is the message for 32/64-bit Windows 7. I'm going to download the Vista-64 driver (host based series driver), and go from there.
