I am not a fan of holding contests, because it seems to cause more harm than good. However, it seems as though there are at least a few readers interested in seeing one for this site. So here's your chance, because if we have one it won't be the unorganized mess that I see others doing. For each member who participates in this discussion (prior to contest start), they will be given twice the amount of entries into the contest.

Here is what has already been decided and does not need discussion:

1) What kind of contest. (Drawing)
2) Prizes. (Item or PayPal cash)
3) How winners are notified. (Forum PM)

So what I would like to discuss is everything else, such as:

1) Contest themes. Be creative and give us some idea's.
2) Everything else. Be vague, or spell it all out from soup to nuts.

Remember, all participants in this discussion will receive double the entries into our contest!

An image contest? A chance for the photoshoppers and such to show their work. We could have a common theme each time, for instance, water or cars, etc.

Good idea. I think that I could also put a twist on it: design a better site logo. One entry for redbull - whenever we actually have this contest.

I like the idea of a photoshop contest but what kind of theme to use I don't know.

Don't worry about that I'm a horrible image designer lol

Another idea is possibly a screenshot contest? Every one posts there best screen shot from either any game or a game picked each week and we vote on the best one, examples are great hs shots, cool looking glitch shots, big score end of round shots, etc and the winner picks the next game or theme or whatever it would be

If I ever got around to installing an arcade on this site, I could offer the contest based on the games.

So it looks like my worst nightmare will actually come to life: Benchmark Reviews will hold it's first contest next month.

What's up for grabs for the winner? The winner gets to choose one prize from the following:

The Ultra ChillTec Thermo Electric CPU Cooler
Hiper HPU-4K530-MS Type R Modular 530W PSU
Apevia X-Qpack 2 CM500 Camouflage SFF Case

Not too bad, right? Well just keep watching for details, as they develope they will be posted.

As long as it's not a "most posts in a month contest". Those really bring out the worst in people.

LOL so so so True... turns the forums into spam central and huge discussions on intel vs amd and ati vs nvidia...

The way this contest is being handled is great. More sites should follow suit.

Exactly, I've seen way too many of those contests erupt into full blown spam fests resulting in bannings and general tension among everyone.

I know the contest has already been decided but I will still leave a few ideas if you hold one later on.
I contest where you have to write about your experience with computers.
Not some 2 liners.
Around 500 words or something, where you talk about what drove you into computers and so on.
It would be nice since, all of us are into computers but we all have different stories , sometimes it would be funny to know the mistakes some did and what some are proud of and so on.
Anyways just a little consideration for another contest if you ever get the chance.

And please I don`t want no one to tell me (I hate writing) cause its a forum and its made to share ideas and opinions on whatever the topic is by WRITING (or typing ...)

1. Maybe arranging a contest where we'll have to tell you why you should give us the prize & why i/we badly need to win that prize. The most interesting/creative entry will win.

2. A game screenshot contest where we can use the original game screenshot or we can edit that screenshot in Photoshop to look it more interesting. The most creative entry will win.

3. Writing an useful article/guide or How-to.The most useful entry will win.

I realize that this thread was started before the beginning of the last contest but I'd like to chime in for future contests.

I like the Photoshop contest but I have to admit that I have mastered the program.

What about maybe a referal contest. This is how it would work. You post the contest and to get an entry, one would post a link to the contest in another forum....as in a clan forum or another tech forum. This would get the sites name out there and bring in the members.

Here's a good one too.
A spam scupture contest. Members would make their best sculptures out of that canned meat product aka...SPAM. Something like this.
