Just wondering what everyone's favorite game is doesn't matter what platform or genre.

Personally I love Half-life 1 and 2 they were my intro into fps which I now play religiously but I loved the storyline and the graphics were amazing(for their time)I just couldn't wait to get home from school and play that next level of Half-Life!

I think that some of the oldies were some of my favorites. There were a slew of Quake 3 mods that I liked playing at LAN parties: True Combat, Reaction Q3, Urban Terror. I also liked MOHAA in its heyday. BF2 was probably my most played game, and recently CoH took care of my free time.

Contra FTW!!!

I also used to love RTCW.

Of course HL1/2 and all their mods rock...

Perfect Dark for the N64 is by far the greatest game I've ever played

I liked the original bond better for N64, Still have it but all my controllers are dead...

I take it you're talking about goldeneye? It was good, but I thought perfect dark far excelled it. I know a bunch of people who disagree with me though lol

Recent games? HL2 and COD4 for PC.

Favourite all time, well that's tough. The 1942 series is excellent, of course, as is the standup version of Superman. Golden Axe as well. I love the old arcade games. MAME FTW!

Yea goldeneye ;)
We used to have huge keggers and run 3 N64's all playing bond/goldeneye. Lots of fun :)

1942 was a great series too, I was a Huge forgotten hope fan, we ran 2 servers for it.
But the new FH imho is a total flop. They should never have based it off the "flaming pos" bf2 engine.

This is a tough question...

I'm much into realistic war games and simulators.
- The first three Combat Mission titles were great, with CMBB and CMAK still being state of the art, IMO. (The newer CMSF is a leap backwards, again IMO.)
- For more reaction based action the Steel Beasts (http://www.steelbeasts.com) series is great. Modern armoured combat in a nutshell. I still would like to try a massive SB fight on a LAN party. The software is light enough to allow a player to host a five player game via 56k phone modem, just think how many players could be supported on Gbit Ethernet. The game allow scenarios with up to 180 tanks per side, with two players crewing each tank (commander and gunner) that spells up to 720 players in one battle!
I wouldn't think of doing that with the new SB Pro, 'cause that's too hardware demanding (and expensive in the required full version, and only sold to governments).

Another little gem is Tropico, which is more of a political simulator where you rule a small caribbean island. I've had lots of success running it as a true communist: Lots of democracy and freedom for the population, low wage spread and plenty of education and social services. No army! As such I'm loved by everybody (including USA and USSR) but the hardcore militarists on the island, and the tourist based economy flourish.

How many of these abovementioned games have you ever played...?

Cheers
Olle

Haha, this thread is kind of dead.

Blah, tough choice for me. I think my favorite game I've ever played was/is Call of Duty 4. Bought week of release on 360, then went over to PC gaming, and bought it for PC. A year later, I'm still playing it (multi-player, anyways.)

Oh yeah! Love the oldies! Although, my favorite games:

PC: UT Series and Crysis
Wii: Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the new world
Xbox: The Incredible Hulk
PS3: Resistance 2
PS2: Final Fantasy Series
PSX: Megaman X and Final Fantasy 8 and 9
N64: No doubt...Zelda

I would say the UT series up to 2k4. UT3 is a substandard piece of garbage! I cannot believe that Epic put out that "game". Then again, I can't believe that people actually bought it before it was fixed properly. All everyone said was, "The community will fix it!"

I never understood why people are like that. Accept a broken product because the UNPAID "community" not the software company is expected to fix the issues. As far as I can tell, the community hasn't fixed anything. Nor has Epic. I wouldn't even have this game had REMACNO not bought it for me.

Hey, if you don't like that UT3 copy I bought you, you could always mail it to me so I can do some map editing. XD

Then again, this PoS computer will not run it...I'm quite sure of that!

Meh, long list... Final Fantasty VIII & X, Megaman 3 and X, most of the Zelda / half-life / mario games. Civilization IV, starcraft, warcraft 3, diablo 2, and Lufia II are also great games. ;p

Too many platforms to choose from but only one genre - FPS

I'm that guy that shoots you in the head :p

The one and only game of all time for me is Americas Army - That game is the reason I made my first PC upgrade (and many subsequent others thereafter)

But then modern warfare happened and I migrated, I still play AA now and then but not as religiously as I used too.

Speaking of Modern Warfare 2, is anyone on BmR picking it up after the dedicated server incident? I ended up getting it today, but it took a lot of effort to do it. I'm hoping it was worth it.

My favourite game is, by far, Earthbound, for the Super NES. I've spent far too much time on that game. :)

The game that really got me into computers was Warcraft 2. That was tops for me until Age of Empires. I've played hundreds of titles after those, but I still think of those the most fondly.

Talking about Star Craft II, have a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmYhX8fjmo8&feature=player_embedded
I don't know if they're enjoying the game or just playing like machines to win. If I don't enjoy games, I simply can't play them. I can get very good at FPS or similar games, but this is the reason I left RTS long time ago. I just couldn't keep up with any of the hardcore players.

Edit: Who knows where would I be if I lived in Korea instead of México.

I saw that video a few weeks ago and just kind of stared at the monitor for a second in amazement. And to think, when I play C&C, I play with just the mouse, somehow...

On another note, though, I think Metal Gear Solid 4 may have overtook every other game on my favorites list as the best game I've ever played. Makes getting a PS3 completely worth it.

Talking about SC2... The one review I've read mention the gameplay differences compared to the old SC, and it seems like SC2 put more emphasis on the parts of RTS gaming I dislike. :(
I won't buy it!

Do you have a link to that review? I (and I'll probably get laughed at) never played the original Starcraft, but still picked up SC2 yesterday. Seems like it's getting near-perfect reviews from reviewers, but getting crap from long-time hardcore fans of the series about changing too much (and lack of LAN play)

I do not know if this game was mentioned but the "Syndicate" games by Bullfrog, by far were my favorite, Mechwarrior series as well. Both games are being revisited and hopefully completed. (crosses his fingers):)
