Hey, I got Vista Ultimate installed and going finally!
Got my copy directly from MS, and they sort of screwed up, gave me wrong product key, but after two days of calls and over 3 hours total we got it straightened out.. got a new key!

Which is what I told them I needed in the frist place!

But so far I really like it, seems much faster and snappier than XP actually, I like the plug-ins youi can add to the sidebar etc...

The security features can be annoying as hell though, when you try and run a program the screen goes dark and asks if you are sure, you click yes or allow, then it does it again, I guess just to make sure... it even does it when I try to xfer files around as well..

oh well, I guess it's protecting things though..

Overall impressions are that I like it quite a bit actually, and will be trying to use it more, but programs that I really use aren't compatible with it yet...

bummer, and the Nvidia SLI drivers are in beta, haven't tested them yet, but I did get BF2142 installed...

oh well..

Dracos:

Welcome to the new forum!

I have been selling a few Vista equipped Dell's over the past two weeks, and the primary complaint I receive is that the security warnings are an problem. I try to bring a positive point into the discussion by adding how maybe it will prevent me from having to come out and repair their equipment, but I get the feeling the enjoy their life of reckless abondonment.

I have seen several sources around the web stating that Vista plays games roughly 95% as fast as the exact same computer with Windows XP. Well, that may be true, which is what was said of Windows XP compared to Windows 98. But hey, we have to be forward thinking, right?

Vista and SLi should be friends soon enough... or like I keep hearing everyone say: service pack 1.

I've been seriously considering switching back to XP but I'm going to wait until I get my 8800GTX back from RMA. I'm hoping my issues were just from a faulty card.

I'm running dual boot, actually two separate hard drives, one with XP and one with Vista, just have to hit 'ESC' to select the boot HDD to use whichever I want.. it works that way, for me anyway..

so far though it is cool, I still really haven't had much time to play with it, and I don't think I can xfer my Northern Strike add-on to my BF2142 on Vista, technically it's the same computer but it thinks it's two of them... oh well..

I'm about to put my Office 2007 on there as well, and try to install some other things I use most often, and try to use it more often, but I really wish more things were compatible, some things won't even install, and others just screw everything up..
