The upgrade I'm most in need of is a cooler for my Sapphire 4850; it's just the reference card and it runs pretty hot. I'm looking at the Accelero Twin Turbo . . . hopefully Santa drops it in my stocking this year!

Well this is easy enough. If we're talking towers...well, I've only ever purchased one tower, a Gateway 2000 which I bought in the spring of that year, and I still use it for stuff to this day. In that case, I'd argue the hardware component needing an upgrade would be the motherboard, lol.
On the other hand, if we're gonna allow for upgrades to laptops, then I'd really like to replace the T5200 processor in my HP Pavilion with something bigger, if I knew it wouldn't void my warranty.

I mostly upgrade my CPU as long as the MOBO can handle it.

Video card - hands down. Puter is two years old, recent advances mean even reasonable card bought at the time is outdated, and new card would work with everything on board.

According to my windows 7 experience, my hard drive only gets a 5.9 which is the lowest score. So a pair of hard drives in Raid 0 would be the ticket.

Yesterday morning I woke to an inop computer. The fan on my power supply was rattling/skipping for about a week. I put it off..put it off..no computer.
I'm on the wife's laptop until I get a new power supply.

What hardware component do you need to upgrade the most on your computer?
Need to upgrade my processor, granted I'm running my poor Athlon II 240 at 4ghz 24/7, it's still a bit of a bottleneck for the 4870xx2.

I just upgraded my CPU and mobo with a Phenom2 955 and an Asus SLI MB, and installed Win7 X64, so I guess I'd like to double my RAM, I have 4gb DDR2-800 (2 x 2gb), and another two 2gb sticks would be beautiful! Or maybe drop in a second NVidia GTX260 c216 and rock the SLI!!!!

I need a better cooler.
I can't overclock with my Freezer Pro 7, which I only got because the Intel cooler on my i7-860 was too loud. Who would have ever, ever thought that I would want to overclock? But I do. So I need a cooler.
