I'm sure many of you have heard about the Windows 7 launch parties sponsored my Microsoft. http://www.houseparty.com/windows7

Just figured I'd see who here is hosting one. If you were selected, speak up!

I was lucky enough to be selected to host. Yay, free Windows 7! Not only that, the package with the party favors is supposed to be delivered by Oct 10th which means everyone who is selected to host a party gets their hands on the final version of Windows 7 almost 2 weeks before the official launch. Double yay! (Yeah, I know MSDN folks get it early too but this is free!!)

So, who else is hosting and what do you have planned?

This was the first I had heard of the event, so I requested to become a host. It might be a little too late, but I plan on having more than ten people over for a gathering that weekend anyway.

XJ: I was lucky enough to get in and be accepted as a host before the deadline, and now have a nice 20+ gathering. I don't see anything about what/when they'll ship out gifts. Link?

Serious? That's a cool party kit. It might have let me in because Reno isn't very tech friendly.

We had a good time! I set up a new laptop and the recently-reviewed MSI Wind Top AE2010 AIO Desktop System (http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=363&Itemid=66) with Windows 7, which showed-off the touch-screen improvements and vision-impared user functionality. I have a feeling that most of the 20-or-so guests enjoyed the Bratwursts a little more, though.

Unfortunately I had to delay my party a bit. Was planning on doing it on Friday but I ended up having to go to California for work and I didn't get home until Saturday morning. Trying for this Friday now. It'll probably work out better this way. I received the other Windows 7 copies I ordered so now I can have it on all the PC's in the house. Everyone can geek out now!
