:confused:Alright, so my computer has been acting goofy all of a sudden. One distinct thing sbout this problem is that the router shows that I have internet but my browser will not open anything.

Despite my protesting people messing with it, the self-proclaimed genuises of the house couldn't help but ignore me. My brothers kept screwing thinvs up and my mom kept rebooting. I tried entering safe mode and got a shut down error that I checked into; it is tied to the Blaster worm or a variant.

I know what to look for now and, unfortunately for me, each reboot made it worse.

Now the computer will not open the start menu, note pad, task manager, anything. How do I go about fixing it then?

I am at a loss and the computer is a vital part of my mom's day and we don't really have the money to repair or replace it.

I know that this worm is located in the System32 folder which means it is in the important part of the hard drive. Would you suggest saying f*&! it and vetting a new hard drive or is there a solution that i am not seeing? Please help, this is urgent!

Re-format the hard drive and re-install the operating system. Most/all pre-built PC's come with recovery discs. You don't need to buy a new hard drive if it's just a virus. If you could get to a web browser and open sites, I'd recommend getting a good freeware anti-virus program (I recommend Avast! antivirus) and doing a scan, although some viruses make it almost impossible to install and correctly run an anti-virus after the virus has infected said computer...
