Overview:Who are ASRock?

ASRock. When you first hear this name you'll probably associate it with ASUS (like me).But ASRock has become more than an ASUS associate, they have retained ASUS core technologies and values and made them into a separate company.ASrock specialise in the manufacturing of motherboards, established in 2002 they were a subsidiary of ASUS known for their low cost OEM line of mainboards based on older chipsets. This was good for the company as the low price and high reliability rate made them known.Today ASRock is a separate company and is gaining a reputation by winning awards from sites such as OCworkbench, while also gradually starting to cater for the high end market.

My ASRock Experience:

To this date I do not have an ASRock experience to share, but from what I have heard ASRock seem to be doing quite well. They are introducing new technologies such as integrated Wifi on their motherboards (I like the sound that). As a company, ASRock only produce mainboards, so in my view if I was to buy one I think I would be in good hands.ASRock make AMD and Intel based products but I have yet to see their AM3 solution.I have found some great reviews on OCworkbench relating to some ASRocks products so you can judge them yourself.I overall (remember I have not used one) think ASRock can potentially overtake Gigabyte, or ASUS, or any other manufacturer as long as they keep on doing what they are - Releasing great technologies at rock bottom prices. And lets see if I'll be building my new PC on an ASRock motherboard!

New Features:

In an AsRock motherboard I would first like to see more efficient cooling solutions (although they are still very efficient the way they are). Other companies use expansive amounts of metal such as copper to keep their products cool, but I think AsRock should develop their own innovative system of keeping their offerings nice and stable, at an affordable price. Next I would like to see AsRock developing different models in each series to match different price points and the end users needs. For example the X58 Supercomputer is the only X58 motherboard released so far by AsRock. It seems to be a very good board, but some users may not require all of it's features. Therefore AsRock should create some 'watered down' versions of their flagship models. In terms of audio output, it'd be great for more AsRock motherboards to have dedicated sound cards included in the package giving users reliabilty compared to 'generic' audio. Also in the bundle included with the mainboards I think it would be fantastic if a Crossfire or SLI ribbon was available for users who do not have access to one, or if their video card/s did not ship with one. It's a small item but could make alot of difference. Additionally a free game would sweeten the deal. It would be cool to have a 'Powered by AsRock' case badge for us to stick on our case to show our loyalty to a great brand. A sticker would also be sufficent. And lastly AsRock needs to develop more enthusiast offerings to separate themselves from the competitors. I think an LCD overclocking and Status LCD which would fit into any standard 5.25" drive bay would be awesome. It could control properties such as CPU Temp, Motherboard Temp, FSB, IES, AsRock Instant Boot, CPU Multiplier, GPU Core/Memory, Fan Control and much more. This would be excellent if bundled with enthusiast models such as the Supercomputer for a minimal premium.

Although this isn't related to the features included on a motherboard, I think it would be a good idea for AsRock to start a Support Forum to deal directly with users. As a company grows it must put more emphasis on customer relations, while putting product development second. You can have the best product in the world, but will fail if nobody wants to buy it. It would also be nice to see more AsRock sponsored events such as this contest or LANs etc.

Conclusion:

I think that AsRock is a great company showing alot of potential and promise for the future. According to an article I have read, one of the main four motherboard manufacturers will encounter difficulty soon, and hopefully AsRock will rise up to take their place. AsRock means quality, value, and performance. Best wishes for the future AsRock!
