Hello, and welcome to Benchmark Reviews.

Your LGA775 cooler may still work on a LGA1366 motherboard, but you'll need a new mounting kit. I'm not sure if Xigmatek makes a LGA1366 mounting kit for thier older coolers, but you can always peek at their website. If it were me though, I would opt for the HDT-S1284 because it offers a larger contact suface. Here's a quote from my X58 review:

CPU coolers made for the LGA775 platform were designed for use with a Core 2 (Duo or Quad) or Pentium 4 and D processor with an integrated heat-spreader measuring 28.5 x 28.5mm (812.25mm total), but the LGA1366 socket requires a much larger 32 x 35mm (1120mm total) footprint to accommodate the extra 591 'pins'. If you use an LGA775 cooler on a LGA1366 socket, your missing out on 38% (307.75mm) of the contact surface.

Thx, Olin...

MB I'm leaning to is the Asus Rampage II Extreme or P6T-WS Revolution... this rig will be the family gaming machine... ( I hope )...

The Xigmatek S1283 I had on my Asus P5B-D MB(775) that I destroyed w/ a bad OC..... OUCH

If it were my LGA1366 system, I would get the NH-U12P SE1366 for $74.99 (http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-2339666-10446076?url=http%3A//www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608007). Two fans are included, they're both silent, and the cooling is excellent.

Also look at the EVGA MB.

I ended up not having to get a whole new rig. Asus replaced my P5B-D MB with a new one. I was still in 'W'' and did not realize it. I did get a new vid card...the GTX280 from EVGA...awesome....my son and I are playing COD-MW and -WaW at 1600x1200 resolution with excellent framerates. The cpu is an E8400 at 3.6 ghz.
