Stream video throughout my house, schedule backups for those who don't do them themselves, move my webserver to it and see how it works - then post my review on BenchmarkReviews.com

We will ship this item anywhere in the US, so if you have family/friends here you could still enter.

Thanks for the email.
I would use it to add game server to the CDU gaming community. We currently rent out of Dallas, this little jewel would provide a better ping for the gamers in my local area.

My massive collection of por^h^h^h lolcatz pictures.
Of course, being a Canadian, this is closed to me. Olin, why do you hate Canadians? ;> (and I do have someone to ship to in the US, neato!)
Seriously though, that is one cool little box. The possibilities are impressive and that it's pretty much its own LAMP server are very enticing as well! Good luck to the winner. A nice wiki at home, or a centralized calendaring system and searchable phone book to keep all the families numbers and appointments in one place. Niiice.
There is also, of course, the media storage/streaming abilities of the device that would be interesting. The php/apache combo brings to light some very novel ways of controlling playback with an iPhone, n700/n800/n810 or some other wifi equipped PDA.

For the record, I like Canadians very much. So much, that one lives with me. :)
MVIX cannot ship to Canada, but they offered to ship anywhere in the continental US. Work the system.

I happened upon this site looking up some information on a Synology unit.
However I would love to have this little box so I could stream my media at home and play around with the web server parts in it. It's been a while since I dabbled in that.
Thanks for the chance!

Looks great! I'd have two uses for it. First, as file storage. Second, to stream movies and media for myself (and maybe some other relatives )

I would use this to stream movies and music to my Xbox360 and my Xbox 1 (using XBMC)
both of which i do on a daily basis, and having a single NAS Media Server would truly help in that i wouldnt have to run any more clunky 1/2 working pc app's anymore.

I'd love to have one of these. I've been looking for a good network attached storage device to put digital copies of my DVDs and my music library onto. No more worries about my computer dying and losing data!

I gotta say - It would kick butt if I actually won this. To think about all the possibilities this little gem would present is fantastic. I could store all of my files, hook it up to play media on my tv, etc... the MAIN thing I would use it for though would be setting up a family style web site to keep my entire extended family up to speed with my family and what we are up to - my kids are growing up fast and it is difficult to maintain contact easily with everyone. I think it would be nice to not have to worry about calling or emailing all my relatives when something happens - I could just update a few web pages with info and leave it in THEIR hands to see how we are all doing! SWWWEEEEET! Thanks for the chance at this! Benchmark Reviews ROCKS! :D

Three obvious uses. First, data storage and backup. Second, web server. Third, as nearly everybody else has said, media streaming.

That'd be a great place to store a media library (MP3, videos, photos, etc.). It'd be nice if it had a feature like WD's external drives where you can access data on it anywhere though.

I would use the MvixBOX WDN-2000 to stream media to my PCs and to my Xbox360 for viewing on my HDTV. Twill be a very merry Xmas if I could stream A Christmas Story using this...not that it probably won't be running 24/7 on the networks anyway :)

I would certainly use it as a file server. Could store a lot of stuff I don't want to lose plus my wife has an extensive collection of music that she would love to store somewhere other than her PC. She is an online DJ and really could use the storage.
