View Full Version : Review websites that take handouts...

It's been an interesting week. I work myself to the bone just so my articles can be delivered in a timely manner, and try my best to offer a candid opinion of the product. For some reason though, there are a few sites that actually resort to accepting bribes and payment for their review. Some have even gone so far as employ the writers to publish reviews for them.

One such website is altgamer.org. This site is virtually unvisited, but that doesn't take away from the fact a Sapphire employee named Mike Raymond owns and operates this site and writes reviews of their video cards.

I have also learned of at least two other websites which employ marketing staff from manufacturer companies to write reviews, which seems to be an obvious conflict of interest to me.

What do you guys think? Who else do you know of? We should get the word out and end this kind of behavior!

I don't see an issue with it. Is there evidence that he's being biased? If so, fair enough, otherwise I don't see much of an issue.

I personally hate places that break NDAs.

It's inherently wrong. I think that if I worked for Ford, and I also worked for Car & Driver magazine, there would be a bias towards Ford products even if it wasn't obvious.

A biased site will rarely take off anyway. From what I quickly read, the reviews seem to be fairly balanced. Unfortunately, they don't review many Nvidia cards.
