Folks,

I need a set of PC speakers at work. Nothing 5.1/7.1/THX/Dolby Certified. I do, however, need a quality set of speaks. At home I am plugged from a Revolution 7.1 soundcard (in Stereo mode) into an Onkyo amp with Dynaudio Audience mains and a Dynaudio sub.

I do not have the luxury of being able to use such a setup at work though, so I grabbed an Altec Lansing 2100 from a friend of mine. Ugh. Muddy.

I don't need serious thump, I don't need dual 15" subs in a forth-order bandpass box. I do need definition throughout the frequency range with clear highs.

I'd rather not pick up anything more than a 2.1 setup as anything beyond would be tossed in the junk.

Any recomendations? As I live in a decidedly rural area, it would be quite a chore to find a place where I could demo some systems.

Have you considered a set of studio grade reference monitors?

I think you should try logitech or altec lansing. both aren't too expensive, newegg has lots of speakers.
